A few months ago, you may remember me posting about how I had run out of my Skin79 BB cream. I loved this stuff, but being an asian brand, it wasn't readily available in the UK. So, as a replacement, I settled for a western version, the Garnier Miracle BB cream. I was not impressed.
In response to this, my mother brought me the Missha Perfect Cover and the Etude House Precious Mineral BB creams for my birthday. They were due to arrive in July. They actually arrived on my birthday.
So the first one I tried was the Missha Perfect Cover. I think it was the first BB cream I ever heard about, probably from Bubzbeauty, and has always been one of the main brands people talk about in BB terms, along with Skin79. I got No.21, which is light beige. It's SPF 42, which is pretty high for a make up product.
My first impression was that it was a lot thicker than the Garnier cream, as well as more of a neutral tone, both of which were huge plus points for me. It blended well, and had good coverage as it neutralised my dark circles enough without concealer, and I didn't
feel the need to set with powder although it wasn't a matte finish.. It didn't feel too heavy, and I wasn't aware of the 'lots of product on my skin' sensation you can get with other products. It has a pump applicator as well, which is nice. No amusing english translations though, so that's a shame.
I'm really unsure about whether to include the photo I took, because I look so bog eyed in it. My face is wonky too, but that's just my face. Note to self, look past the camera when doing close up selfies. Maybe I'll take another photo next time I put it on and there is good lighting, and add it in with an edit.
In general, I was really pleased with it. I was concerned that it wouldn't be a good colour match after testing on my hand, but it blends out really well and seems to match my face tone really well. Since trying this out for the first time nearly 2 weeks ago, and with the options of this, the Etude House and Garnier to choose from, this BB cream has been the one I have used most frequently. It's just a shame it takes weeks to arrive, even if it is about the same price with shipping from Hong Kong included as many western brands.

FACE
I finally got my proper Asian BB cream! I went for the skin79 super plus VIP gold beblesh balm.
It is 3 effects functional beblesh balm.
Intercept ultraviolet rays UVA and UVB at the same time and protect your skin exposed from the sun more thoroughly.
Phyto complex ingredient which is good for skin moisturising and soothing makes you skin always moist and healthy
Or so the box tells me. It also said "DIRECTIONS: Use it proper quantity on the area of your face." so that was useful to know.
I liked the little squat pump bottle. It meant I had to pump it on to the back of my hand which made me feel all professional. I guess its hygienic or something as well. Not that much came out in a pump, but I could use most of it over my whole face with the leftovers to concentrate on problem areas.
The coverage was OK, I still felt like I needed to conceal under my eyes and any blemishes, as well as to set with powder to get rid of excess shine, but as you can (hopefully) see below, there is no denying that it completely smooths out my skin tone to give a blank canvas. I had heard about the grey, ashy look until it oxides, although I can't say I really noticed it. It felt nice on my skin, not to heavy, and blended really well. A little really does go a long way.
Sooooo all ready for the wedding now ... scary! Time has flown by so quick, I can't believe everyone is actually growing up.
In other news, my mother and I have decided that I should be an English proof-reader for Asian companies, as they clearly need some help.

P.S. - Asian sellers are lovely! I got a free hair treatment and a personally written thank you note with the product ^^

One pump looking all swatchy. Note the burn on my thumb from my Remington pearl wand.

I look so happy. The lighting isn't great, but you can see the difference, especially under my eyes.
Straight after this I did another test of the wedding make up. It feels like a bit of a waste to put on a full face of make up just to take it all off a few minutes later, but it meant I could make sure it is still fool proof and wash my brushes and applicators.

For one reason or another, Laptop is being SUPER slow this evening. I suspect one reason is that it is my laptop and another is that it's my laptop. At least it's not turning off in a huff any more, so thanks to my swanky laptop tray for that.
I got some Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream samples today. I was quite impressed with it, it was light and moisturising with decent coverage, and a little went a long way. I still want to try some of the Asian brands, namely Skin79, Lioele, Missha and Etude House before I could properly judge it, especially as a BB cream, but so far I approve. It gives the same look as my normal base make up, but without the hassle of moisturising first, then mixing my foundation with moisturiser before applying, and then setting with powder. The only thing I don't like so far is that I felt my break outs weren't completwly covered and my t zone looked a bit shiny, so the coverage isn't perfect.
The reviews I have read of this product are very mixed. People who haven't used BB cream before seem to be impressed while those who have aren't. I guess I'll just have to make a yes style order of beauty products after all.

Venus
Online shopping is hard ... especially when you literally want one thing, but have to trawl through pages and pages of other stuff to find items to make up the order to get free shipping.
I got really excited the other day when I happened to check YesStyle, a favourite Asian website of mine, to discover that they now stocked Liole Beyond the Solution BB cream. I have had Skin79's Hot Pink Super Plus Triple Function Beblesh Balm in my basket for a looong time, but I was always waiting for Liole to come in so I can test the two BB creams I have heard most about for myself. I also really wanted to try Watery by Missha, but I strongly suspect I may have missed the boat on that one.
I know BB creams have exploded all over the place now, but I remember first hearing about them from Bubzbeauty about 3 years ago, and I have been dying to try them ever since. I'm not really interested in the ones coming out here, I don't think we have enough experience in BB just yet, and it seems there is a lot of bandwagonning going on, so better to stick with the Asian brands that have been going strong for years and really know what they are doing ... even if one of the main factors is skin whitening (I don't go out in the sun, I'm white enough).
So, my problem now is that I have £30 worth of product in my basket, and another £59 to make up to get free shipping, or else pay £9 p&p which I ....
Ahem ... I now have £58 in my basket, and need another £31. Skin79 Gold Version and Liole Water Drop kind of fell in there too.
I am pretty sure I don't need 4 BB creams, and yet, I can't seem to make myself remove them.
I have heard amazing things about both of the Skin79 ones, although apparently they can look a little ashy at first, just until they oxidise. Liole Beyond the Solution has much the same response as Skin79 but without the ashy look. Water Drop is supposed to be very light on the skin without much coverage, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I don't know. They'll all probably sit in my basket for a while until I see something else I want ... or decide to make friends with someone in Asia that will send me them for free (Yes, I'm still up for swapping western/Asian goods, people of Asia *hint hint*).
In other news, this sleepiness is completely messing with my body clock. I literally spend all day and all evening struggling to stay awake, and as soon as I get into bed ... BAM ... wide awake. It'd be more understandable if I was sleepy all day because I was up late, but I think I'm up late because I was sleepy all day. Sigh.
