Lo Siento

Super Junior released their latest song today, and I really like it, far more than their past couple of releases since their two year hiatus, because apparently they can promote without everyone apart from Donghae and Eunhyuk.

Literally, while the other members were in the army, they still released music, even now, with their two main vocalists in the military, but they just full on put a stop to everything from the moment Eunhae enlisted to when they discharged.

It makes me really sad to see an incomplete Super Junior. During the two year break, I welled up a bit to see only 4 people representing what should be 15 members. Currently, there are 7 active members, Leeteuk, Heechul (although he isn’t performing), Shindong, Yesung, Donghae, Eunhyuk and Siwon. Ryeowook and Kyuhyun are still in the army, and Zhou Mi and Henry are only in the Chinese sub unit. I know Kibum and Hangeng are no more, and Kangin is reflecting after doing far too many very naughty things, but Sungmin? It’s pathetic that he’s been forced out of his group just because he got married and didn’t tell the so called fans. It makes me so angry, especially with what happened to SHINee. How I wish Onew had been there for their last performance together. Life is too short to boycott a member because of something so stupid. You never know what will happen next and I certainly don’t want Sungmin to be sidelined because he got married.

Anyway, sorry, I got a little carried away there. Back to the song.

It just felt like Super Junior. It was catchy, and I’ve played it about 10 times today, with it stuck in my head the rest of the time. I liked Black Suit, but it just didn’t really work for me somehow. Super Duper was good fun but meh. Lo Siento is just classic SuJu. All the pelvic thrusts for a start. Super Junior just wouldn’t be Super Junior without thrusting.

I particularly enjoyed Shindong’s part where he clearly had something wrong with his eyebrow. If someone next to me at a bar lifted his eyebrow at me that frequently over that little a time, I would definitely move away as quickly as possible, especially to dance with Leeteuk instead.

Can we take a moment to talk about Eunhyuk’s styling on M Countdown? A bright yellow, baggy, double breasted suit, with a purple satin shirt is bad enough, but why top it off with a mullet? Poor boy.

I really liked Leeteuk’s outfit though. 

BTS

This evening, I've been watching BTS's music video for their song 'Dope' pretty much on a loop.

I've heard of BTS before. A lot. They're kind of hard to miss in the kpop world. But I didn't really pay them much attention and definitely couldn't have given you an example of one of their songs. 

Then BTS came up on the latest episode of the Fine Bros' series 'Youtubers React - to Kpop'. I've had issues with this series before, such as when they stated in the fact section that TVXQ had 5 members. But you know, you watch it anyway just in case they feature a band you love. 

Anyway, so I was watching that and BTS came on. The song was catchy and I liked their costumes. But it's the choreography that keeps me coming back. Well, that and other reasons I'm too embarrassed to admit to. I mean, they may be a few years younger than me, but they've got something going on there, if you know what I mean. It's like EXO all over again. Guys hip trusting and rubbing their lips and looking all sexy shouldn't be allowed unless they're older than me. It's fine. Super Junior are older than me. TVXQ are older than me. SHINee are .... let's move on. 

So I started checking out some of their other MVs, and I really like them. A lot of what they do have that attitude-y-ness that I really love in BlockB and early BAP. I recognised one mv from a EYK kpop music Monday video about how happy they all were and how it's so refreshing to see artists obviously having a good time in their videos. At the time it was a rarity, but did you see Leeteuk in Devil? He was having a BLAST. And Onew in Married to the Music. It's nice to see Kpop artists having a nice time. Especially Leeteuk. I liked the teaser for the new song. Everyone looks like their being super Super Junior-ish, apart from Kyuhyun who looks like they shot his close up without him realising they were filming him. Donghae winks all sexily, Eunhyuk looks all brooding, and Kyu is just like 'what?'.

I keep getting distracted by Super Junior. This is supposed to be about BTS. 

So yeah. Go watch the Dope MV. 

Happy Together

Apparently my mother has been reading this blog ... so thats weird.

It's just occurred to me that its August. Normally, I'd be doing BEDA now. Instead I'm doing BED2012, although recently none to regularily. It sounds pathetic, but I just don't have the energy.

We did some reminiscing this evening. I can't believe that Zante was 6 years ago. We've all changed so much and so much has changed around us, and yet it doesn't seem like it should be that different. Back then, we were 6 single girls going away to spend time together before we split ways to head to uni and work. Now, 2 are married and settled, another engaged and settling ... somehow, we've turned into grown ups (well at least those three have, the other three not so much). It's just sad to think we'll never get to go on a girly holiday again.

Just watched the London 2012 Olympic Closing ceremony.

Once again, the rest of the world are going to think we are a bunch of lunatics. Sure, the Only Fools and Horses homage was hilarious, but surely the rest of the world will just WTF at Batman and Robin getting out of a half blown up car. I know that we are supposed to be famous for it, but I think we might have come across a lot more punky than we actually are.

At one point, there was a man on a tight rope, and when he got to the end and shook the hand of a mannequin, it burst into flame. I have no idea what that was about.

The Queen wasn't there. Just Prince Henry of Wales, whoever that is. He looked a lot like Harry. We think someone had told the Queen that Queen would be performing centre stage with Jessie J in the last quarter, and she got confused.

The fireworks scare the crap out of me, especially when I think about all those athletes stuck in the centre of the stadium right below them. They know not of the danger they are in.

I decided to watch Dr Horrible at stupid o clock this morning, and as a result, throughout the entirety of today I couldn't get the songs out of my head.

Things have been stirring recently, so I'm really hoping a new one is going to come out ... although I don't know why Felicia Day has been around seeing as they killed Penny ... hmmmm conspiracy?

Last full day at the office. When I was 16, the two week stretch seemed like forever. Now, it seems to fly by. Maybe its because I've got things to do now, or have just got used to spending hours on end doing nothing. To be fair, my day is pretty broken up.

So, this weekend, while I wait for a sum of money to be transferred into my bank account, I might have a Fast and Furious marathon. I also want to watch House of Flying Daggers. However, I know I am far more likely to just watch Devil Beside You. It started off really well, getting to a stage in the first episode that it normally takes half a series to get to. Now, its kind of tapered off a bit, which is a little disappointing, although I still can't stop watching it. So maybe I'll just spend my weekend waiting for something to happen, like getting hit by a car and making out on the road again ....

I should probably go and check in with the grandparents ... which means I'll have to find some photos of the wedding. So basically, I'll actually be spending my weekend on facebook and then shouting to old people (I get told off for shouting at them).

Dancing Out

I kind of wanted this post to be somewhat of a reflection of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, but now I think about it, I don't know what to say.

Was it impressive?
Yes.

Did it blow me away?
No.

I didn't like how our history started at the industrial revolutuion, rather than even hinting at the rich and influencial past we have not only nationally, but across the world. The actual production? To me, it lacked something. Precision, maybe. I have such vivid memories of the Bejing opening ceremony and how the synchronised sections were so utterly flawless that it took your breath away. In London, the timing always seemed ever so slightly off, especially in the first 'history' section, and the non-professional performers stood out like an extremely awkward sore thumb. The guys who were really getting into it were great ... the very British half hearted-ers were somewhat disappointing and a quite frankly a little embarrassing.

The Queen being delivered to the stadium by James Bond? Epic. Mr. Bean? Amazing. The British humour mixed with renowned characters is something that the majority would understand. The GOSH and NHS tributes were awesome, especially when combined with classic children's British literature, but I couldn't help but think that to an outsider, it would seem that the NHS exists to give children nightmares.Also, I'm fairly certain the commentator said 'Voldemart' and 'Chucky Chucky Bang Bang.' so I have no idea what to make of that.

Basically, it was truly British all the way through ... whether this is a good or bad thing I am unsure. I fear much of it will have completely gone over the heads of many of the visiting countries. On the plus side, at least the whole world knows how weird us Brits are now.

Sunny

Huh .... so I didn't blog last night. I can't say I have any recollection of not blogging, so I'm not sure why that happened, but it did so what can you do.

Its really hot here in the UK at the moment. Or rather it's really hot here for the UK. Part of being British is complaining about the weather regardless of what its doing. I like the nice weather, but I don't handle heat well. I sweat like a sweaty thing and that is not a good look. I would rather be too cold than too hot, yet I feel that may be something to do with having a summerless wardrobe ... its not something that is normally needed here unless you go on holiday lots.

Anyway, so naturally when its warm out, you have the windows open, allowing unwanted guests to enter freely. I mean bugs. Moths are everywhere, as are nasty little knatty fly things and even normal fly things, and they all have a tendency to fly at my face. I'm a bit bored of it to be honest.

What else can I tell you other than my insect woes? Someone keeps distracting me from doing work in the afternoons by looking at posh houses for sale. Regardless of the competition, I still feel that Hawkstone Hall is the way to go. If 6 million were to suddenly drop through my ceiling right now, I'd buy it ... maybe after I'd had my ceiling repaired.

Do you have any idea how hard it is blogging when you have nothing to post about?

My mother is threatening to send me to to a doctor because apparently 'I'm not eating'. She thinks it's a threat, but we've done it all before and look what happened then - two doctors and a dietician said it's fine. Just because I'm a little stressed right now and have lost my appetite somewhat doesn't make me an anorexic.

A Day

What to blog about this evening? I'm coming up blank. Mostly because nothing has really happened in the last 24 hours. No new music videos or songs that I'm in love with, no purchases, no news, nothing.

Well, I guess a seller on eBay sending me 10 cover buttons rather than 100 can be classed as news. I wasn't much impressed, especially seen as I have 6 days in which to complete all the dresses, but it was an honest mistake and he says he's sent out the rest today.

I also ran out of purple thread and so had to buy some more, so I guess that counts as a purchase. It meant that I didn't manage to finish the bridesmaids dresses today as planned, but I'll get them done tomorrow no problem.

I did see this music video that amused me. There seems to be a main line that goes 'I can be the baby girl' so that's a little bit of a strange thing for a self confessed 'hot boy' to say, but each to their own. I'm fairly certain that at 2.40 he says 'We'll put you on the fire' which is a little murdersome. I also enjoyed the little guy getting squished under the giant shoe, and you have no idea how much the end made me laugh.

Don't Don

So last night I could barely type keeping my eyes open, and tonight I seem to be wide awake with a load of pent up energy. It may be because I have spent a ridiculous amount of money today.

Nearly £200 on 5 pairs of converse for the wedding. Over £100 on my Avon bill. Then, I decided that seeing as I had already spent over £300 in a less than an hour, I might as well carry on. So I brought the Remington Pearl curling wand and the Skin79 Super Plus VIP Gold BB Cream as a treat to myself.

Anyone who has read this blog at least semi regularly will know I have been wanting to try the Asian BB creams for years. You may also be aware that I have a small YouTube beauty guru obsession ... literally everything they use, I want*. So I did some research. Generally, the Skin79 Super Plus Beblesh Balm series seems to be the most universally appreciated, although it is not without its criticisms. The other brand I have heard a lot about is Lioele, and while Ingrid raves about Triple the Solution and Waterdrop, Bubz didn't seem as well impressed, so I decided it was best to stick to Skin79. Missha have always had good reviews, but I'll admit to finding their sheer number of choices intimidating.

As for the Remington Pearl wand, I had my eye on the Babyliss hot pink wand for a long time, but when I went to look at the reviews right before buying it today, all the negative comments were about how it wasn't as good as the Pearl. Also, seeing as how the last Babyliss product I got didn't particularly impress me (the glamour waves tong that works perfectly as a straightener, not so much as a curling tong) I thought I would go back to my original hair styler bias, Remington.

So yeah, I'll let you know how that goes.

It's 2.20 am and my dad's Landrover alarm just went off. The neighbours are going to love us, its the most obnoxious alarm you've ever heard. Ah well, they never liked us anyway.

Love Yourself

I may have had a minor freak out this evening, but it is amazing how much Super Junior on repeat and a couple of episodes of Goong cheers you up.

Also a bag of fruit pastels. I decided that you have to eat two fruit pastels at a time, otherwise you would only be eating half a fruit, which is obviously pointless. Don't ask me what happens when you get a lemon ... lets just say it makes your jaw hurt.

On a completely unrelated note, kpop songs really need to stop telling us that 'it' is 'hard'. Korean music is all sweet and innocent, or at least very well censored and I have absolute faith that they have no idea what these lyrics mean to English speakers.

Supernova's Stupid Love, for example. 'Take a deep breath, cos this one is real hard.'

Block B's Nalina. 'I don't know, I don't know, I don't know but I'm hard, hard. You know what, you know what, you know what, what I mean, mean.'

And now even Super Junior in Rockstar. 'Oh. My. God. It's. So. Hard. .... I'm a rockstar!'

It just amuses me that songs with much less* get banned, and yet the connotations in these lyrics are completely acceptable. Then again, I have heard plenty of english language songs uncensored on Korean teleevision that I have never seen in British media. I guess either they think there is no point in censoring something the majority of the population wouldn't understand anyway, or the government genuinely doesn't know that words such as FUCK are swear words.

Not that I'm complaining, I find it all highly amusing. See, western popular music is no where near as fun as eastern music.

Sexy, Free and Single

So Super Junior released a new album today, and it is nowhere near as amusing as Mr Simple. The teaser photos were strange, sure, but not Siwon in green pants strange. You can check out the teasers here, including the title track teaser, Sexy, Free and Single.

The first time I heard it, I thought it was 'sexy, free and single, I'm ready to mingle'. Aces, how am I supposed to sing along to that without sounding like a walking personal ad? Now, the more I listen to it (yeah, I have the album already), the more I am convinced it is actually 'sexy, free and single, I'm ready to bingo'.

Sure, Leeteuk may have turned 30 today, which could easily be considered prehistoric in the kpop idol world, but still, he's about 30 years to early to be going to bingo to find a date.

So now we just wait for the MV to be released. My bets are on Super Junior dancing in a box ... just like every other video.

And there's such potential for the Super Junior members all dressed up idol-y, playing bingo surrounded by old ladies. Sigh.

In other news, I am NOT good at early nights in preperation for early mornings.

Wonder Boy

I finally got around to watching the first episode of Goong. I had high hopes. Had is now the operative word.

So far, the only way it is different from Boys Over Flowers / Hana Yori Dango is that they have done the bear re-enactment thing at the end, a la Playful Kiss. Don't get me wrong, I loved BOF and HYD, I was just hopeful for something a little different this time around. Then again, its a Korean drama ... obviously it has to have a poor ordinary girl heroine and ridiculously wealthy, powerful, attractive yet somewhat douchey male lead. I am already sensing some Rui-ness in Yul and he was only on screen for about 10 seconds.

I also finished reading my scripts. I'm quite a descriptive person, and normally I find scripts difficult to envisage, but these read very much like a novel to me, and as such I really enjoyed reading them. A number of uniforms to sort out though, which is probably where most of my budget will go. Sigh.

My sister is home and I think tomorrow will be spent on bridesmaid duty. Advantages of doing it twice before is that I now know where all the good dress shops are. I will bet you anything my mum cries for the first dress, no matter how it looks.

Right ... I'm not sleepy and not bored enough to go to sleep regardless. It's 2 AM ... I know I shouldn't, but maybe I'll just watch another episode of Goong.

Happy Together

I have spent a rather large proportion of today watching a Super Junior reality show. It's called Full House, and involved two female students staying with Super Junior while they study Korean.

I've watched a bit of it before, but the episodes are pretty hard to track down due to copyright, so I have never watched the whole series. I'm pretty sure I have mentioned or even posted a video link before where the members try to learn English. Its really funny, especially as they can't remember much past 'You are so gorgeous.' Although I'm a little concerned why they were taught 'OBEY ME!'. I'll post it again just in case... I challenge you not to laugh.

Its an old series, way back in 2006 so they'd not long debuted, and they all look soooo young. The girls stayed in a dorm with Heechul, Hangeng, Kangin, Donghae, Siwon and Kibum (only Donghae and Siwon are still active in SuJu, although Kangin is returning for their new album. Heechul is in the army, Hangeng left SM due to the slave contract controversy, and Kibum is on hiatus to pursue his acting career), although Eunhyuk turns up much of the time*.

I've laughed (pretty much all the time) and I've cried (when they won their first award). If you read my drama posts you know that this is how I rate a show. Plus it has Super Junior, so bonus points right there.

It has been a royal pain trying to find working links though. It's annoying when you have to watch one 30 min episode in parts on about three different sites. I've never had this trouble with SHINee's shows ... and they were better quality. Shawols obviously are happier to share than ELFs ... or more likely the blockers are on the ball for SuJu more than SHINee.

Maybe just one more before bed.

Memories

I can't quite believe that one of my best friends is a married woman now. It's so grown up! The whole being engaged thing always seemed really mature to me, but actually being married is just something else! God knows what'll happen when babies start appearing in my friendship circle ... I'll probably start planning my funeral.

It was a lovely day though. It went by really quickly, but I'm so glad I was there for all of the Bride's journey. Apparently we were 10 minutes late, but the Bride is supposed to be late, and I blame the photographer anyway. I understand why he kept setting up his photographs for the best possible picture and all that, but it kept holding things up and yet we were the ones who kept getting the blame for it!! Although I got him back by rather publicly pointing out his fly was undone.

Everyone looked beautiful though, as was the ceremony and reception, but most especially the Bride. It's the start of a wedding filled couple of years, I think.

The photo is of us, the Zante Six, which now consists of one married woman, two engaged girls, and three eternal singletons. So much for bridesmaids getting action and romance sparking at weddings.

I have no idea where it'll show up in this post as I'm using the Blogger app for the first time, as Laptop has huffed off again. Joy.

What If

I wish you could organise your posts on Blogger, so that I could put all my drama posts in one place, kpop posts in another, and somewhere for my random rambling. Each section could have links to the relevant posts, and that way, people looking for kpop won't have to see my diary posts, and readers interested in my mundane life need not get distracted with dramas and music they have no interest in.

There probably is a way to do it, but I don't know how and can't be bothered to find out. I was just thinking how much easier to read it would make this blog, which doesn't have any specific purpose other than being the storage space of my internal monologue / mental diarrhoea.

Also, the idea of ORGANISING EVERYTHING into neat little organised sections is appealing to me.

Dead at Heart

So I just shut down my laptop, turned off my light and snuggled down into my bed, only to suddenly remember I have yet to post this evening. Sigh. So here I am, with very little say say once again, in all the sparkling glory of the beloved iPhone post. Someone asked me why I was single today, and I couldn't help but think what a ridiculous question that is to ask. As if you're going to tell someone all the bad things about yourself that means you can't maintain a relationship, or the reason why people don't come near you in the first place. People always tell me I'm fussy. I disagree. I will admit to being shallow, but what matters to me most is someone that I feel comfortable around. My mother seems to be of the opinion I should 'learn to love' someone, but if the initial attraction isn't there, followed by a lack of wanting to be with that person, then what is the point? I don't really know how this 'oh crap I forgot to blog'post became so deep. Maybe I'll elaborate in the morning. Right now, I'm going to sleep. <3 x
