Boring

I will never understand why blogger gave up on their app. You used to be able to still use it, but now it just crashes. So now you have to use the actual website to post, which is fine, I guess, just not as convenient as an app. For some reason, iPad is so much easier than blogging on iPhone. You'd think that mobile sites would all be the same, but I guess they can tell what type of mobile you're using now too. Technology. Scary.

I have nothing to post about today. I find myself loathe to leave the house unless I have a really good reason, like work, or a fire, so I've just been sat at home all day. I did book the kitten into the vets and myself into the doctors though, and vacuumed, so I've been slightly social and not totally inactive.

I also finished another drama. I gave up reviews a long time ago, So I'm not going to go into details, but it was good. I have a history of the shows I've completed on mydramalist, and I think I'm on 91 dramas and 5 movies or something. I have a load lined up as well, but the main problem is that DramaFever are a pain in the ass and I can't watch their original series because it's 'not available' in my country, just like pretty much everything else, hence why Viki is far superior (although I can't watch some things on Viki either for the same reason, but at least its not literally everything). Which is fine, I tend to prioritise by rating anyway, and the DramaFever series is pretty low down on the ratings, although the cuts I've seen from the first episode look pretty ... umm ... intense. I do enjoy how DramaFever advertise everything as "only on DramaFever", when 99% of it is on Viki and probably a load of less legit sites too.

Tl;dr version - my life is boring.

Mock Up

So, today I pretty much ran out of time. My sister was coming home this weekend to go fabric shopping for her wedding dress, which meant that before she arrived, I should have really finished the toile for a fitting.

Toiles aren't exciting. They're just to make sure that what technically should be right fits properly. So they're not hard to knock out, nor do they take long, it was literally that I had left it to the last minute. What with eBay stuff, feeling poorly, going to London and then my grandmother, I had left myself less than 6 hours to toile the bridal dress as well as the bridesmaids, allowing at least an hour of that for lunch and Neighbours.

So that was my day. Sewing boring lines in ugly, boring fabric to make mock ups of dresses that aren't even recognisable yet.

The biggest problem was sewing is you have a lot of time to think. I thought too much today.

Bored at work - I know, I'll blog!

I am currently in the midst of my annual two week holiday cover at the office.

I am on my own. No-one comes in. No-one calls. I haven't even seen the postman since Saturday.

As such, I am bored, and thus, today you get a post that is in no way related to Japanese dramas, Korean Pop, Manga or any of the other Asian related shit I seem to spout relentlessly. Instead, lucky reader, you get a post with no direction that exists purely as something to do for the last 45 minutes of my day.

What scares me most about this job is how easily I have settled in to a routine. Walk in. Turn off alarm. Turn on lights. Read the paper (every single article other than sports). Go on eBay. Lunch. Sew in the back office until I get bored. Go on eBay. Go home.

Sounds thrilling, doesn't it?

On the plus side though, at least I am getting paid to do the work that I am doing voluntarily. If that makes sense. I am doing my costume work which is unpaid in the time I have free in my paid job, which is basically the entire day.

I'm very silently stressing out about these costumes. I can't deny that it's doing wonders for my eBay feedback. However, the real cost breakdown and the one I'm going to give in are two very different things. I'm buying a lot for myself with the intention of letting the cast wear them first, which isn't a particularly good way to save money.

Personally, that is. Professionally, its is a very effective way to save money.

My list of things to buy is almost empty, although my list of things to make is considerably larger now. At the end of the day, it is cheaper for me to make things with what I already have than it is to buy what I need.

On paper, that is. In reality, it is probably more expensive.

I had to pay for all those things once. All those steel bones, buckles, various fabrics. Really, I should charge for it all, but seeing as the budget is less than 10% of what it should be, its not really feasible to do this.

I am scared shitless that I'm not going to finish everything on time, or even if I did, that they hated it all. I may not be getting anything out of this shoot other than the experience, so I shouldn't care as much as I do, but I just hate the thought of being a disappointment.

Any way, in other news, Rachey has finally moved in to her house! There is a lot of work to do to make it their own, as right now, cosmetically at least, it is very much still the home of an old lonely man. I really want to help them do the whole place up, and while I know I would always be welcome, I also know that they are unlikely to ask me around to help them with every little detail. I've been round the past two nights, Tuesday to look at it, yesterday to share my opinion on the curtains and paint swatches, and I'm going again this evening to take up the afore-mentioned curtains. I just want to play house, I guess.

I'm hungry. That's the problem with being on a diet and being stuck in an office with no food. It may mean I cant snack, but I get to just before lunch time and home time and I get far too tempted to make a detour to Sainsburies on the way home. Or to consume to entire pack of cookies that are hidden in my glove box to stop me eating them without Inki.

God, now I just want cookies. This has happened before. Last time I blogged about how hungry I was, Chocolate Heartattck was born. God, now I want Heartattack.

I might just go stare at traffic for the last 10 minutes before I get too carried away.

Welcome to 2011

Happy New Year and all that jazz!

I'm not a huge believer in the whole 'New Year's Eve' thing; maybe because I've never been that much of a party-er, or that I don't like to conform to society's expectations, but most likely because I'm just plain lazy. None the less, I do believe strongly in New Year's Resolutions. I guess its something I'm a little obsessed with. I have to start new things at the beginning, whether its beginning of a week, month or year, and I convince myself that by doing so is the only way I will succeed.

Now, I'm sure that one of my first posts was a New Year's Resolution sort of thing, and there have been many other posts during the last year that were meant to serve as a kick up the bum to achieve my aims. Whether or not they worked (unlikely, regrettably) I do like documenting what is going through my head, so what follows are my Resolutions for 2011.

1) DO NEW THINGS
I'm so sick and tired of doing the same things all the time; always going to the same places, eating the same meals, baking the same things for the cake brigade, etc. I just want to shake things up a little, make life a little less monotonous. I'm going to say 'yes' more, and be a bit more adventurous.

2) BE MORE FEMININE
This may seem a little ridiculous, as I can be quite girly as it is, but I just want to look after myself a little better. I'm going to drink more water to get rid of those bloody headaches and improve my complexion, use face masks and moisturisers to make my skin look better, and exercise little and often to improve my health and how I feel about myself. I'm going to wear more dresses and skirts rather than living in my jeans all the time, and do more make up than just mascara. I was about to write 'sleep more' but as its nearly 4am as I write this, I feel hypocritical.

3) SET UP BUSINESS
I like to think I have a pretty solid plan now on how I am going to earn some money, starting with a website and maybe an etsy store to gather customers. I feel that my manga/anime obsession is fading fast, so I'm going to try and get obsessed with crafts before something else that is less beneficial to my finances can sneak in, like learning the didgeridoo, or model aeroplane building.

4) HELP AROUND THE HOUSE MORE
I do cook on regular occasion, and when I do clean, I make sure it is done well, but I don't do it enough. I'm going to cook more varied meals (see point 1), and try to keep the house in a better state. I feel the best way to do this would be to lock my father in the shed with the rowing machine, but while this would likely make everyone happier, its not really feasible, so I'll just have to tidy up after him. Men.

4) DOCUMENT MY LIFE MORE
Yes, I am aware that I do this more than most I know already, what with twitter and the blogs, and dailybooth to a lesser extent, and tumblr and facebook even less, but I'm starting a diary too. Just for the mundane everyday things, like 'went to cinema' or 'tidied room', and what films I watched. I might keep a counter at the end of this blog actually. I liked having a counter at the end of my blogs. On a related note, I want to blog more, on both here for my emotional shit and general blah blah blahing, but also on tumblr for anything that I find that I want to share. Ive linked everything to feel free to stalk me if you aren't already. I figure if you are reading this, it cant really get any more personal.

I was just told by my mother to go to sleep or I wont be able to go to Hatton in the morning, and as I don't want to miss out on fudge, I'm going sign off here.

Wish me luck with all my resolutions, and good luck with yours!
