Guilt

Do you know how guilty it makes you feel when you neglect to post because you know you'll fall asleep? I even dreamt about it.

This sleepy thing is getting ridiculous. I even had a quick power nap in between getting into bed and turning my light off. Literally, I was so tired I couldn't muster the energy or keep my eyes open long enough to flip a switch. It's like clockwork, I'm fine until about quarter to 12, and then boom, collapse where I stand and asleep by quarter past. Then I wake up at 3, and then again and again until I'm fully awake by 7. Not that I get up at that point unless I have to. I'm too stubborn for that.

It's got to be the steroids, right? Maybe I'll have to check the leaflet again. I just wish it was helping my ear thing more. All it's doing at the moment is quite literally leaving a bad taste in the back of my mouth.

Ummmmm

What goes around comes around.

Don't you think that's true?

Ok so I was writing this then I fell asleep and can't really remember where I was going with this.

Edit: Wow, what a super interesting post. I think I was trying to say something deep and profound about how people are stuck in a never ending cycle of treating others how they have been treated, especially when they have been hurt and end up doing the same thing to someone else, but don't realise it. But then I got sleepy and of course the whole thing turned into garble.

I'm at school, waiting for my next student to show up. I suppose I should go look for her, but I much prefer hiding in my room waiting for them to come to me. I'm just antisocial I guess.

Phantom

Went to see Phantom of the Opera today.

It was okay. The movie was better. I think I expected too much, especially after how good Dirty Dancing was. At the end, my mum turned to me and said 'aren't you going to stand up', and I just said 'nah', which is kind of telling.

There was just something not quite right about the actors. I can't quite put my finger on it. The sets were amazing, and the chandelier at the start was good but I'm gutted it didn't fall into the audience. So it is a shame we walked out with more of a 'that was good' rather than a 'THAT WAS FRICKING AMAZING'.

In other news, I had a small personality meltdown again this morning. These are becoming far too frequent. Turns out its tough trying to not be me.

Why so Serious

SHINee released a new music video. Its the title song from the Dream Girl repackage.

Now you guys know I adore SHINee. But ... I'm not sure how I feel about this song.

First thing to note ... there are 5 members of SHINee. Onew as leader, Jonghyun is lead vocals, Key is generally a bit of everything, rapper Minho and Taemin the dancer. You may notice someone is missing.

Jonghyun was in a car accident in the beginning of the month, because he is korean and koreans seem to have a lot of car accidents. So, they filmed this video and I expect plan to promote this song without him while he recovers. I get it, he needs to get better, but still, it felt weird without him, even if he is my least favourite member. Not that Taemin didn't do an excellent job filling in for him. That boy is growing up so fast.

Secondly, to me, on first listen, its not a particularly easily sing-a-long-able song. It doesn't have that hook you can keep repeating to yourself, and the rest of the track just seems a little mismatched.I try singing the chorus and it always turns into Sherlock.

I haven't listened to the rest of the repackage yet, and don't get me wrong, I still love the song, I just have a feeling it will be easily forgettable in comparison to their other tracks.

Miffy and heather go to the village hall

So I had this big amusing post planned recounting my evening, but I'm kind of sleepy.

Miffy and I went to see my friend in her touring show. It was in the middle of nowhere, in a tiny village hall that I think would have been used primarily as a meeting place for WI meetings. In the interval we had free drinks and homemade cake made for us especially by the WI, and there was a raffle.

We were also the youngest by about 50 year.

Excuse moi

I've been posting early a lot lately. Mainly because I've been getting really sleepy early. Hence the barely disguised sleep posts of the past few days. I have no idea what's causing this.

Maybe the steroidy spray thing?! I just realised I started getting sleepy early a couple of days after I started taking it, so that seems to make sense. Although I don't understand why something that is supposed to drain my head (attractive, right) would make me tired ... Unless its actually just old age. I am nearly a quarter of a century old.

I did crap all today. Waiting on a fitting over the weekend so the wedding dress is at a standstill, so I spent most of the day reading up about Marie Antoinette. One of my students wants to make a robe a la francais (talk about ambitious, I never even dared try that before), so I thought I better get some research in. But then I found myself reading up about capital punishment techniques.

Because, you know, I'm morbid like that.

Druggie

So I'm in steroids now.

Nearly two years ago, I started getting this weird water in the ear sensation. It got worse and worse until I couldn't really go go out without it happening. I can't really describe it other than being very aware of the sound of your own body, from breathing to speaking, and it's very disorientating.

About 6 months ago, I spoke to a doctor about it but she couldn't see anything wrong. The other week I got another doctor, who prescribed me a nasal spray thing.

The point of this post is that I was thinking it had started to work. Normally it hits when im outside, but I spent the whole weekend in a park and nothing. But then I really ha d a bad case today.

Super sad face

Dolally

So I think my gran is pretty much dolally now.

On Thursday and Friday, noone could get in touch with her via phone. So my mum rushed over on Friday morning. Turns out she had seen a light on her alarm system attached to her phone, decided it was going to set on fire despite the fact that it was just a power light, so had cut the lines and put the box in a bucket of water. Facepalm.

Sunday, we couldn't get in touch again. This time, she had turned the phone off at the switch, again convinced it was going to set on fire. Facepalm again.

Later that day, we couldn't get in touch again, so straight off the train from London, we headed over to find that she had pulled the line, but without any memory of doing so.

Today, my mum rang up and had to explain to her step by step on how to do things as simple as call someone. For a ridiculously long time. Then later, she rang up complaining that the phone said ringing on it... Which obviously meant that that in between dialling the number and putting the phone to her head, she had lost all memory of what she had done.

It's heartbreakingly sad ... But also kind of funny.

The Picnic

I had booked my train home with a little lie in on a Sunday morning in mind. But that was not to be. I got kicked out at 7.30 in the morning, with 6 hours to kill until my train. Luckily, I have lovely friends.

So at 9 am, I showed up at my friends house, and I drank tea while she woke up and showered, and then we headed to Regents Park with a picnic and gossiped about everything for hours. It was lovely.

Then we realised it was half an hour until my train and rushed back to pick up my bags and get to the station. I fell asleep on the train and then spent the rest of my afternoon catching up with YouTube, watching TV and eating candy floss and a giant Kinder egg.

And that brings me back up to date.

The Shoot

Last night, I had heard a tentative call time of 6am, with a wrap of 6pm, to try and make full use of the sunlight. Fair enough, but the whole script was only 3 pages, and 6am is early so I was really relieved when it got pushed back to 8.

So at 8, we all met at a cafe for breakfast, or two cups of tea in my case. It was a really small crew, just the director, her assistant, two camera guys, a stills photographer and me. The make up artist was a no show. But it's only a silent short with a cast of 3. When we had all gathered and stocked up on caffeine, we headed over the road to the park and picked a bench.

The homeless guy looked great, and his costume had exactly the right amount of breaking down. With literally no other choice, I did some make up and prop building, so I reckon I should get extra credit for that.

So the shoot went really well, and we were all a little taken back when we were finished by about half 1.

So we dropped off kit and went to the pub for the rest of the afternoon. Can't complain at that.

London-bound

If you had been reading my last few posts, you'll have known I was working on a shoot this weekend, and therefore should not have expected a post. But I don't want to miss out documenting a single day this year, so here I present to you a small series of catch up posts, starting with Friday.

What can I say about Friday other than the fact that it was mostly taken up by packing and getting ready for Saturdays shoot? Before, when I had trained it to London, I had got a virgin train, but this time I went Chiltern. I think I prefer virgin, they just have more space for bags and what have you, and it wasn't so busy. However, virgin was a much slower service, so I guess it's swings and roundabouts. I think I'll check out both in the future and just go with the cheaper option.

Having said that, if I had waiting for just a couple of days before booking my tickets, I could have got a return for 50p, so that sucks.

Sod's law, I guess.

Friday 19 April 2013

Charmed

Finally finished my homeless man. I'm hoping I can find a sleeping back and general bag stuffing in London, rather than carting it all down with me, so I guess I should check on that before I actually say he is finished, but yeah, he's finished.

I'm pretty happy with him. I don't want him to look overdone, but the again its really hard to judge what will show up on camera when I have no idea what the light will be doing. Regardless, I'm taking my break down kit with me, so I can do touch ups and so on on set.

I did manage to cheese grater my knuckles though.

School was good, but my last student was a no show. Apparently they all went to a guide dog training centre of some sort instead. But that's ok, I stayed for an extra hour playing dress up, paid in my cheques and still made it home in time for charmed on e4.

Ah, even after all these years, I still love that show. I want time freezy powers like Piper ... and a gorgeous house and a whitelighter for a husband. I just wish they were showing more of the series, rather than what I think must be the last two seasons.

Oblivious

I should really stop waiting until bedtime the night before to do my prep for my lessons the next day.

Saw oblivion tonight. I was really excited for it from the trailers, but it wasn't quite what I expected. Much less finding out everything is a lie and changing sides. Not that that didn't happen, more that it wasn't as big a plot point as I had been expecting. But anyway, it was sci-fi-y, thriller-y and generally epic. They even threw in a nice big nod to 2001: a Space Odyssey. Which no one else got, by the way, which l do not understand. I just wish the film had ended about 20 seconds before it did, but oh well.

Doctors first thing. Hopefully get my ears and chest sorted while I'm there. Then school and shitting stuff up. Cos that's just how I roll.

Gentleman

When it first came out, I didn't think much of it. Awesome video, but the song just didn't do it for me.

Now, it's pretty much constantly stuck in my head.

It's no Gangnam Style, and I don't think it will appeal to international audiences as much as Korean ones, but that's good, that's the way it should be. He's a Korean artist after all, and even though he went global, it's good that he isn't changing because if it.

Eat Your Kimchi did a parody, keep singing that too.

EDIT - Is it just me or is this post a little messed up? Darn iPhone posts.

Contact Me

I made another small change to my website. I added a contact form just in case the mail icon under the contact me tab wasn't clear enough. I also put an email link under the contact form in case the contact form wasn't clear enough. Because people are stupid.

As promised, I was productive and finished and sent off my designs today. Well, I finished them and tried to send them off, but that took a while as for some reason they wouldn't attach to my email. I think the stupid homehub was crapping out for like a second, long enough to screw over an upload but not long enough for anyone to notice. Finally got them sent off though, as well as booked my train tickets and cleaned my room (read: picked up pile of clothes in corner and hid mail in bookcase).

They say dirty room, dirty mind. So now I have a clean room. Not much we can do about the dirty mind. Especially when I have spent all day drawing boobs and boxer bulges and laughing at farts.

Monday 15 April 2013

Of work and travel ... aka boring.

Why is it that you can be absolutely shattered all day, and yet as soon as you climb in to bed ... boom, wide awake. It's not fair.

Today was mostly spent driving home and not doing anything productive. I was meant to finish all my designs this weekend, and I tried to finish the sketching phase in the car, but it was too jiggly. I'll have to do it tomorrow instead, after school when I'm finding it hard to pluck up the willpower to go into my work room. Not that it really needs to be done so soon, we're not shooting until July and its the end of June before I need to have a fitting, but the production seem keen to get things sorted really early.

I have just been looking at trains and coaches for my shoot this weekend. Since petrol is so expensive and my car seems to be guzzling it down lately, I figure its much cheaper to public transport it. The other week, I got a return for £15. This time, for some reason I don't understand, all the £6 and £8 options are non existant, and I'm looking at nearer to £28. I'm looking at the same days as well, and open to the cheapest time possible, so I don't understand how the price can double like that. I could megabus it for £12, but to be perfectly honest, it doesn't appeal much. I like trains.

So, at some point this week, hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday if I get the details in time, I need to hit the charity shops and/or Primark and put together a homeless man's costume. And then age the shit out of it. I have a budget (and a wage (woo) although not union standard) and the short will be entered to the Virgin Media Shorts competition, so I want to really show off here. Plus the story is probably the most adorable thing I have read in a while.

Plus, making a homeless man is exciting.

Better than suits and normal stuff any day.

Death Dream

So I wrote a post in the car on the way down to my sisters earlier today, about a dream I had last night. It was a little disturbing. But then I accidentally deleted it or something as it isn't in my blog drafts, so now I need to decide whether to write it all out again, or just move on.

Maybe a bit of both.

So a certain boy was having a party in a cave full of statues, as you do, and I was sitting next to a friend of his that I had met at his birthday. I went to get a drink and he followed me and had a go at me for leaving. So I went and sat back down. Then, one of the statues broke and the head fell on the girl next to me, completely squishing her head. So she was sat there, dead, but with a statue head. Then a huge Bhudda statue broke and the head also fell on her, so she was sat there with a massive Bhudda head. The end.

Think of that what you will.

I'm at my aunts right now, in the land of no phone signal and very limited Internet, so this post might not actually publish. I'm sat right next to the router though, so here's hoping.

Bolt

I'm really glad I have a runner at the bottom of my bed. It means that when I get too hot because I have left my electric blanket on for too long, I can stick my leg out if bed and put my feet under the runner, thus cooling down without getting cold feet.

I just re read that paragraph. I hope everyone gets that I mean that strip of fabric, rather than like Usain Bolt or someone. That would be weird.

Today was pretty boring, just did the wedding dress and even made a start of my designs for the July short. Little bit concerned I haven't heard more from the lingerie company. You would at least think they would let me know if they were no longer interested. It's just good manners.

Post Review

So, I just wrote my review post, and now I have turned off my laptop and light and settled down to blog in the dark, like I normally do. This is why we get such a high concentration of sleep posts. It's hard not to fall asleep when your lying down in the dark, especially when you're trying not to.

School today, and for once, the room wasn't like an igloo and I didn't turn to ice. I'm not quite sure if that's a sign of spring or whether they have just figured out how to turn the radiators on. I then came home and ate left over Pizza Hut, which was amazing but at 4 o'clock kind if ruined my appetite for the rest of the day. Now, it's 2am and I'm kind of hungry.

I meant to do some work today, but ended up just sending some emails and taking a few phone calls instead. Must do better tomorrow.

Rooftop Prince

So my last drama review post started with a statement that I would now like to retract. I said that it had taken me so long to watch To the Beautiful You that the days of powering through a drama were long gone. I was feeling a little disheartened with the whole Asian drama genre, it was repetitive, lacking in originality and frankly, was boring me. I just wasn't feeling it anymore. Rooftop Prince has changed that.

It's a pretty complicated plot, especially at the beginning and the end, but to try and sum it up, the stroy starts in Joseon, Korea 300 years in the past. The crown princess is discovered poisoned and drowned in the lake, and the crown prince sets out with some trusty friends to discover her killer. Cut to Korea in the 90's, and we meet Pak Ha as she and her father meet her new mother and sister. Pak ha clearly dotes on her new sister Se Na, who just as clearly couldn't give a crap ... to the extent that she locked her sister in the back of a truck and watches as it drives away. Cut to modern day America, and now Pak Ha meets someone who looks suspicioulsy like the crown prince before she gets a call sending her back to Korea because they have finally found her long lost albeit somewhat dead father. Look-a-like Prince gets thrown off a boat in the middle of the sea by jealous cousin Tae Mu. Cut back to Joseon, and team Prince get ambushed, and somehow find themselves in modern day Seoul on the roof top of none other than Pak Ha.

Phew. From there, its basically the Joseon boys getting used to modern day Seoul, Prince getting mistaken for assumed dead Look-a-like Prince, and Tae Mu and Se Na (who is Look-a-like dead Princess) crapping themselves that they will be found out. Obviously Prince and Pak Ha fall in love, but the Prince is so blinded by the thought of Se Na and his murdered princess that he takes a while to realise it. It was a hilarious and heartbreaking series, all rolled into one, and it was amazing.

I even forgot to screengrab, thats how involved I was.

It was something new, something exciting that I haven't seen before, and as such, it not only held my attention but also left me wanting more. Yeah, sure it was a little predictable, you knew that the baddies would get their comeuppence, and the goodies would fall in love, but the way the plot took you there was quite unexpected. It wasn't until quite near the end that I started to suss out what had happened in Joseon, although it didn't make it any less intriguing when I had. Yes it was confusing, especially with different characters with the same face appearing in every era, but it wasn't unmanageably so.

It was hilariously funny, especially when Pak Ha, burdened with 4 apparent lunatics, decides the best way to handle them is to steal their Joseon clothes and put them in tracksuits of different colours, or when they can't figure out simple things like rotating doors. The characters were really well done, and as usual, I liked the back ground characters more than the mains. They just have all the fun without getting bogged down in the drama too much. No underdog here though for Pak Ha's attention .... well there was, but he was batted out of the park so quickly he barely got a look in. I do feel sorry for Look-a-like Prince though, having his identity and pretty much everything else stolen by a 300 year old Royal, even if he does, like everyone else, sort of get a happy ending. Well, people in Seoul at any rate. Joseon not so much.

I laughed. I cried. We all know how I judge things on how they make me feel, and its been a long time since I felt involved enough in a drama to cry. I miss it already, and I only finished it a moment before I started writing this post.

Next up is Love Rain, and I'm actually going to watch it this time rather than let it get pushed down my watch list by other dramas climbing the charts unnaturally quickly. Well, unless it's already been beaten out by tomorrow.

Thursday 11 April 2013

Today has been a good day

So I got a new job today.

Just a short, and only three characters, so nothing too big, but still, a job is a job. The most amazing thing is how I got it. I literally heard someone saying they were making a short film as they were serving me in a shop, and told them I was a costume designer and gave them my website address. Apparently I turned bright red right after, but regardless, 3 days later, I get an email asking me to be involved ... although it did go to my junk folder and I didn't get it until today.

I also booked up an all inclusive luxury holiday abroad. The first holiday I have had in 7 years, and my 6th holiday abroad ever. Three of which were in Greece and one in Turkey. Kind of ironic really, going to Cyprus. I don't really understand how all inclusive thing works, but I think it means all your food and drink is paid for. So, technically, I shouldn't have to spend a penny, right? I do want to explore though, feels a bit of a waste to go somewhere and never see past the hotel and nearest beach.

I don't like Turkish Delight though, so I hope that won't be a problem.

Wednesday 10 April 2013

Croissant

Yes, I missed a day. No, I didn't catch it up.

But I figure it's okay, I'll finish Rooftop Prince soon and I can just post my review and a normal post on the same day. Sorted.

Had Wagamama's Saien Soba for the first time in ages today. I was a little bit disappointed. I just wanted something light and fresh, rather than the stodge of sticky rice and greasiness of anything deep fried, but I wish I had gone for the Yasai Katsu instead. That's the problem with Saien Soba, you get full but you don't really feel satisfied. Too healthy I guess.

Saw a woman put a croissant in one of those rotary toaster things today and it set on fire. Like, ridiculously fast. How can something that bearly warms and rarely toasts bread set fire to something else. I guess that's just an indication of how bad croissants really are for you.

Fun fact - the smell croissants make me feel poorly. Along with the vegetarian thing, this is something my father has yet to pick up upon.

Distant

It's amazing how much you miss when you don't check your social media for just a weekend. It's taken me like half an hour to get up to speed on twitter, and that was pretty much just the highlights. I haven't even started on Facebook and YouTube yet. YouTube could take hours.

I'm tired. I know this because I just dropped my phone on my face. I don't even know if I can be bothered to take off my makeup.

Cute!!! ... with Chris

I know I've mentioned him before, but I really miss CutewithChris.

I was just watching some of his videos as his name showed up in my subscriptions bar even though he hasn't made a video or even been on his account for about 4 years.

I was seriously laughing throughout the whole of the last video.

It was a simpler time ... back when youtubers could personally attack trolls directly in their videos and an inappropriate horse wasn't a problem ... with kittens and puppies thrown in for good measure.

Lotion makes you slippery.

To Linzi

This is what I think you must look like when you are at work.

Yes, of course its from 9gag. I spend far too much time on 9gag.

Friday 5 April 2013

Stick People

I totally just thought of something to post about ... but now I can't remember what it was. So that's useful.

I was doing a script breakdown for a short I'm working on in the summer, and decided to look up figure templates so that I don't have to draw my own when I come to designing. I'm not good at drawing at the best of times, and I don't want to run the risk of lobster claws and disproportionate heads, especially when these designs might get published.

This was one of the search results on google. Useful, huh?

All of the ports (is that even the right term?) on my laptop have stopped working for some reason. The USB doesn't USB. My headphones don't headphone. There's other stuff too, like microphones and ethernet and I think a HDMI, but I don't use them so I don't know if they're working or not. It's a little annoying. I'm going to turn it off and back on again in the hope that its one of those stupid things that happen because my laptop lives on hibernate.

Still not quite used to this clocks going forward thing.

Thursday 4 April 2013

Host

This blog has now surpassed 20 000 views ... that is ridiculous, and mostly due to the continuing spamming of the Tokyo Dogs post.

I had a nice comment on it yesterday.

'Amazing issues here. I'm very happy to peer your article. Thanks a lot and I'm having a look forward to touch you. Will you please drop me a e-mail?'

My favourite part is the touching bit. If someone comes up to me in the future and just touches me, I'll know they read this blog. Not that they'll know what I look like. So I guess its more if I ever see anyone going around touching people for no apparent reason, I know that they are looking for me.

Went to see The Host today. It was actually really good, a lot better than I was expecting. I welled up multiple times, and we all know how I judge things by how they make me feel. It was quite close to the book, but a few differences really niggled me, like how Wanderer found out about Jamie first, rather than Melanie keeping him secret, and how they changed the dad to having killed himself rather than being caught and leading the seekers right to them. I don't know, I guess they had their reasons, I just felt that those were important character points. Like Melanie trying to hide all knowledge of Jamie showed how protective she was of him, and how they would have been doubly mistrustful of Souls after seeing their own father betray them.

There are a lot of films coming out soon that I really want to see ... we seem to have a bit of a sci fi surge heading our way.

How lighter evenings ruin lives

You know, this whole day light saving thing is really messing up my perception of time.

Today, the sun was shining in the window, and as far as I was concerned, it was about 4 o'clock. No. It was past 7 pm. So somehow you've lost 3 hours and now you should be thinking about dinner, but you can't, because your stomach hasn't caught up with your brain yet and still thinks its mid afternoon snack time, not big evening meal time.

It's a real problem.

If an hour throws me out this much, imagine what 8 hours is going to do.

Tuesday 2 April 2013

Everything designer

Today I probably should have done some work on the wedding dress. Instead, I spent literally the whole day updating my website.

Check it out if you like. www.heatherbradley.moonfruit.com

You can pretty much see the point in which I got bored and gave up.

That was mostly because I suddenly realised it was midnight and I still needed to change my bed.

Time Traveller

Welcome to British Summertime, where it's Easter but there is still snow on the ground.

Finalised my months accounts just now. So much for staying in the black even if it was by pennies. A broken car and generosity are to blame. I brought 5 mid range price eggs and got one cheap Easter egg back.

I was annoyed, that thought that I should start only putting the time, effort, thought and money into other people if they do the same for me, but then I realised that I would do the same thing now even if I knew that I wouldn't be getting anything in return. Treat people as you want to be treated, I guess, and the idea of not getting my family Easters eggs is inconceivable.

Time travel is tiring.
